RainDance Technologies Appoints Laura Deming Senior Vice President of Product Development

RainDance also engages Joseph Malandrakis as senior product development counsel

LEXINGTON, Mass.--()--RainDance Technologies, Inc., today announced the appointment of Laura L. Deming as Senior Vice President of Product Development. In her new role, Ms. Deming will oversee the long-range product planning process and provide overall leadership for product strategy, development and delivery across all of the company’s advanced microdroplet-based technologies for the life science and research markets. Ms. Deming will report to Roopom Banerjee, RainDance’s President and CEO. The Company also announced that Joseph E. Malandrakis has been engaged as senior product development counsel.

Ms. Deming joins RainDance with more than 25 years of experience in the development of instrumentation and consumables directed at genomics/proteomics research, in vitro diagnostics, cell analysis and therapeutic medical device applications. Prior to RainDance, she was Vice President of Research, Development and Operations at medical device startup WaveRx. Ms. Deming has also held senior Product Development and R&D roles at leading life science and diagnostics companies including Cytyc Corporation from 2000-2003, PerSeptive Biosystems (acquired by Applied Biosystems) from 1994-2000, and Millipore Corporation from 1985-1994. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Bridgewater State College, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lowell and an M.B.A. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Mr. Malandrakis brings 35 years of industry experience to the RainDance team, including nearly 30 years at Applera Corporation (formerly Applied Biosystems). From 2001-2003, he was the Vice President of Global Services and Solutions at Applied Biosystems. From 1998-2001, Mr. Malandrakis managed Applera Corporation’s $300+ million acquisition of PerSeptive Biosystems. He also served as Vice President of North American Sales and Service as well as Vice President of Worldwide Operations at Applera Corporation. He holds an M.B.A. (Operations Research) from the University of Bridgeport and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the New York Institute of Technology.
