NEW YORK--()--Univision Communications Inc., the nation’s leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced the appointment of Maelia Macin to the position of executive vice president of Network Sales for Univision Networks. Macin will oversee all advertising sales and marketing operations for the Univision, TeleFutura and Galavisión networks. Based in New York, she will report directly to David Lawenda, president of Advertising Sales and Marketing, Univision Communications Inc.

Peter Lazarus has been appointed EVP, Sales Strategy – New Networks. In this position, he will continue to be based in New York and report to Lawenda, and work closely with the Univision Networks and the Company’s Distribution Sales & Marketing teams.
Alberto Mier y Terán has been named vice president/general manager for the Company’s flagship stations in Los Angeles. He will be based in Los Angeles and report to Peter Walker, president, Univision Local Media.

Macin has been with Univision since 1992. Most recently, she served as senior vice president and regional director of the southwest region for Univision Local Media. In this position she was responsible for the sales, news, marketing, online initiatives and community outreach for KMEX-TV Univision 34 in Los Angeles - as well as the Company’s local television assets in Phoenix, Tucson and San Francisco. She previously served as the vice president and general manager for Univision 34 and TeleFutura 69 in Los Angeles. During her tenure as VP/GM in LA, KMEX Univision 34 station achieved key milestones, including becoming the #1 station in the country regardless of language. She previously served as the vice president and general manager of Univision’s Austin stations – KAKW Univision 62 and KBVO TeleFutura 51. Prior to Univision, Macin was the direct marketing manager at Datel Entertainment, a company that specialized in marketing entertainment products manufactured in Mexico to Hispanics living in the U.S. She started her career as the Hispanic market manager for NuStats, Inc., a market research and consulting firm. Macin pursued graduate studies in advertising at the University of Texas in Austin and received her Bachelor of Science degree in education at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.
Lazarus joined Univision in January 2008 and merged three sales teams into one to represent the overall Univision Networks offering. He joined Univision from IMG Sports and Entertainment, where he was senior vice president of sales and business development. Before that, he spent nearly a decade at NBC Universal, where he held several positions including senior vice president of sports and Olympic sales and marketing. In this role, Lazarus managed sales and marketing for the 2006 Torino and 2004 Athens Olympic Games. Earlier in his career at NBC, Lazarus worked as a television network account executive in sports, news and primetime.
Mier y Terán is a veteran television executive with experience in station management, new business development and local community relations outreach. He previously served as vice president and general manager for WGBO Univision 66 and WXFT TeleFutura 60 in Chicago. Prior to this role he served as vice president and general manager for Entravision’s KBNT Univision 17 and KDTF TeleFutura 36 in San Diego. He has been a member of the Univision family for 10 years. Before then, he held positions of increasing responsibility with Entravision Communications, CBS affiliate KFMB in San Diego, as well as with Time Warner Cable.
