Charged with strengthening the application of semantic technology throughout the Rearden Commerce Platform

FOSTER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rearden Commerce, a next-generation eCommerce platform company, today announced the appointment of Adam Pease as Senior Applied Scientist. Mr. Pease, who has worked for over a decade to create the world’s largest free, formal ontology, the Suggested Upper Merged Ontology (SUMO), will be responsible for leading Rearden Commerce’s semantic technology and formal reasoning practices and technologies.

Prior to joining Rearden Commerce, Mr. Pease was founder and CEO of Articulate Software where he led research in ontology, linguistics and formal inference, and the development of SUMO, the Controlled English to Logic Translation (CELT) system, the Core Plan Representation (CPR), and the Sigma knowledge engineering environment. Prior to founding Articulate Software in 2003, he was Program Manager and Director of Knowledge Systems at Teknowledge.

Mr. Pease has been sharing research under open licenses in order to achieve the widest possible dissemination and technology transfer. His products have been downloaded by thousands of people around the world. He has chaired several workshops at the national conference of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, published over 40 papers and presented numerous invited talks at international conferences. He is also a member of the board of the Global WordNet Association.
