Biohabitats Opens Charleston Office, Bringing Ecological Restoration Expertise to the Low Country

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.--()--South Carolina's Low Country is blessed with an abundance of natural resources including coastal marshes and bottomland forests. The need to protect and restore these resources has become increasingly critical. Biohabitats, the nation’s leading ecological restoration, conservation planning and regenerative design firm, has opened an office in North Charleston. The new office will also enhance the firm’s service to clients in the Southeast Bioregion, which spans from the Roanoke River in Virginia through to the Okefenokee Swamp of Florida.

“The salt marshes, barrier islands, winding rivers and long leaf pine forests are not just part of this region’s beauty; they are a part of what sustains our culture and economy,” said Biohabitats president and Charleston resident Keith Bowers. “We’re eager to help Low Country clients go beyond ‘green design’ to actually regenerating biodiversity, fresh water, clean air and healthy soils.”

Biohabitats’ new office is located in the sustainable community of Noisette, on the site of the former Navy Yard. To share information about local environmental opportunities and challenges, Biohabitats, in conjunction with the Navy Yard, will host an Oyster Roast Happy Hour on March 16th.
