NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Application Security, Inc. (AppSec), the leading provider of database security, risk and compliance solutions (SRC) for the enterprise, today announced that Josh Shaul has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Josh previously served as Vice President of Product Management for the company. This promotion comes at a time when the demand for database security, risk and compliance (SRC) solutions is rapidly expanding. Within this market, AppSec has emerged as a leader delivering the most comprehensive enterprise software solutions available.

In his new role Shaul, who joined AppSec in 2004, will be responsible for the implementation of the company’s long-term technology strategy. In this capacity, he will be responsible for defining the next generation of AppSec’s product suite as well as continuing to oversee product management. Prior to joining AppSec, Shaul served as Director, Worldwide Systems Engineering at SafeNet Inc., a provider of network security and encryption products.
Separately, and in response to a heightened demand for database security solutions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), AppSec has appointed Xavier Coemelck to the newly created role of Vice President, EMEA. Coemelck was most recently Vice President, EMEA at Informatica (formerly Applimation, Inc.), where he launched and firmly established that company’s presence in the information lifecycle market (ILM). Prior to Informatica, Xavier held various field management positions at Oracle and Andiamo where he led technical service, support, sales and marketing teams. In this new role, Xavier will provide executive leadership and training to a growing international sales team.
