MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gluster, a leading provider of scale-out, open source storage solutions, today announced a partnership with RightScale, Inc., the leader in cloud computing management, to provide Gluster’s scale-out storage technology within the RightScale Cloud Management Platform. Starting today, customers can take advantage of Gluster's software-only network-attached storage (NAS) solution to dynamically deploy and manage scalable storage in a RightScale cloud environment.
The RightScale Cloud Management Platform simplifies the deployment, management and monitoring of Gluster’s scale-out storage technology. This new partnership enables organizations to deploy Gluster storage in minutes and manage data growth in a single global namespace in the cloud environment. Additionally, customers can use Gluster to extend the scalability and cost-effective benefits of the RightScale Cloud Management Platform to their cloud storage solution. By adding storage on an as-needed basis, RightScale customers can dramatically reduce costs, only paying for what they require, with no downtime or service interruption.
“As cloud computing continues to gain momentum, the industry is realizing that storage is a large pain point in achieving the promised benefits of the cloud. Gluster’s scale-out storage is specifically designed for cloud and virtual machine environments, making it the most effective solution for addressing the issues of flexibility and manageability in such dynamic environments,” said Jack O'Brien, vice president of marketing at Gluster. “This partnership with RightScale allows us to better serve the growing number of customers where storage is playing a crucial role in the adoption of cloud computing.”

Gluster delivers an open storage software platform focused on simplifying the task of storing and managing the explosive growth of unstructured data. Our scale-out storage platform runs on commodity hardware scaling out in building block fashion from a few terabytes to multiple petabytes to meet the most demanding capacity and performance needs at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems. Gluster uses a unified global namespace to virtualize disk and memory resources into a single shared pool that is centrally managed. Our scalable virtual NAS appliances address the needs of traditional data centers, shared storage for virtual server environments, and both public and private storage clouds. Gluster is used by enterprises in a wide range of industries, including digital media delivery, healthcare, internet, energy, and biotech. Gluster is privately-held and headquartered in Milpitas, California.
