Four Additional Georgia Law Enforcement Agencies Benefit from Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Deployment of Memex

STERLING, Va.--()--The Memex Solutions Team at SAS, a leading provider of intelligence management, data sharing, data integration, search and analysis solutions, today announced that four additional law enforcement agencies in Georgia now have access, through the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), to the Memex platform for automating tips and leads, known as Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR), intelligence and case management functions.

A total of 11 law enforcement agencies in Georgia now have deployed the solution since 2008. The deployment of Memex by all the agencies is part of a U.S. Department of Homeland Security grant managed by GBI with the primary goals of enhancing the intelligence and information-sharing capabilities of all project agencies.

Memex is a premier provider of software and services that enable law enforcement agencies to manage and retrieve intelligence preventing all scales of crime. By providing the people, experience and trusted solutions, Memex helps organizations uncover unexpected facts and connect patterns between people and events through the entire intelligence life cycle.

The new agencies benefiting from the Memex solution include the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the Henry County Police Department, and the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department.

“We’ve been working with Memex for several years now, and we’re grateful that even more agencies have access to the Memex system for improved decision-making capabilities,” said Don Robertson, GBI Project Administrator. “Memex’s Web-based SAR system lets department enforcement officers contribute to the intelligence effort from mobile data terminals or through any other method of accessing the Web.”

Memex provides a foundation for these and other Georgia agencies to participate in The Georgia Terrorism Intelligence Project (GTIP), an intelligence-sharing initiative among state and local law enforcement agencies, and GISAC (Georgia Information Sharing and Analysis Center), which is the State’s Homeland Security Fusion Center.

“The GTIP participants now have a single-source portal through a single software solution to capture, develop and manage intelligence, as well as suspicious activity via tips and leads, to mitigate criminal activity,” said Neil Schlisserman, Vice President of the Memex Solutions Team at SAS. “Memex has made a commitment to speed-of-delivery, education, consulting, customer satisfaction and project management to ensure our customers realize the full potential of our solution.”
