Former U.S. Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. Joins Morgan Stanley

NEW YORK--()--Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) today announced the appointment of former U.S. Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. to the Firm as a Managing Director and senior client relationship manager. Mr. Ford will work across all business divisions and report to Gregory Fleming, President of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and President of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, and to Paul J. Taubman, Co-President of Institutional Securities.

A five-term Congressman from Tennessee, Mr. Ford will be responsible for building business opportunities for clients with Morgan Stanley and helping client teams at the Firm deliver financial advice and products most effectively. He will manage relationships with corporate directors and senior executives, institutional investors, as well as private clients.

Mr. Ford served in Congress from 1996 to 2007 as a Democrat from the 9th district of Tennessee. First elected at the age of 26, he was the youngest member of the 105th and the 106th Congresses. He served as a member of the House Budget Committee and the Financial Services Committee as well as a member and leader of the Blue Dog Democrats. In 2000, he gave the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention.

Mr. Ford joins Morgan Stanley from Bank of America where he was a vice chairman and senior policy advisor for four years. He teaches public policy at the Wagner School of Public Policy, New York University, and is a frequent news and political contributor to NBC and MSNBC News. Prior to teaching at NYU, Mr. Ford taught part-time at Vanderbilt University. He is a graduate of both the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Michigan School of Law.
