Latest Releases of Karmasphere Products Further Hadoop Usability and Performance in the Enterprise

Big Data Developers and Analysts Benefit from Faster Prototyping and Support for Large Production Environments

CUPERTINO, Calif.--()--Karmasphere™, a Big Data Analytics company, today announced new releases of two products: Karmasphere Studio, for developing, debugging, deploying and monitoring MapReduce applications; and Karmasphere Analyst, for efficient SQL access and insight into Big Data on Hadoop clusters. The releases boost productivity for Big Data developers and analysts by streamlining prototyping and job management, with performance that scales up to handle very large production environments.

“We constantly respond to our customer requests to evolve Karmasphere products to make their Big Data developers and analysts more productive and to simplify working with Hadoop and Hive,” said Abe Taha, vice president of Engineering, Karmasphere. “Our customers with data-intensive applications are doing amazing things with Hadoop, and Karmasphere helps them push the Big Data performance envelope with fast insights into vast data sets.”

Key Facts

  • Karmasphere Studio 1.6 scales for ultra-large environments, supporting jobs with a half million tasks. Studio also eases workstation-based prototyping by creating sample data sets from Hadoop clusters with a single button click.
  • Karmasphere Analyst 1.1 improves performance, storing UDF files on Hadoop clusters to avoid uploading for each analysis. Analyst automatically generates tables to save time for each analysis and the Analyst interface now also lets users directly manage/stop long-running Hive jobs.

About Karmasphere Studio Professional Edition and Karmasphere Analyst

Until recently, Apache Hadoop and Hive software has only been available to advanced UNIX/Linux-based developers and analysts willing and able to set-up a Hadoop cluster and install Hive. Karmasphere removes this productivity roadblock and streamlines MapReduce programming and SQL prototyping. With Karmasphere, there is no initial requirement to set-up a Hadoop cluster – Karmasphere lets developers and data engineers analyze Hadoop data with a graphical desktop environment from Windows, Mac or UNIX/Linux instead of hard-to-use command-line tools. And, when developers and analysts are ready to deploy to a real Hadoop cluster, Karmasphere lets them migrate to any distribution of Hadoop including Cloudera CDH and Amazon Elastic MapReduce with one click.
