Quest Software Joins Forces with HealthCast to Simplify and Automate Secure Access to Health Care Information on Virtualized Desktops

Combined Solutions Improve Data Security, IT Infrastructure and Support Costs

HIMSS 2011
Booth 1483

ALISO VIEJO, Calif.--()--Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT) announced today that it has forged a Technology Alliance Partnership with HealthCast, Inc. Technologies from the two provide a single-sign-on and clinical workflow solution that simplifies and automates secure access to protected health care information. Using both Quest vWorkspace and HealthCast's QwickACCESS increases security and speeds up clinical access to electronic health records, physician order entry modules, and clinical documentation systems with all the benefits of a virtual desktop.

“We welcome HealthCast as a Technology Alliance Partner, as we work together to take the access and delivery of health care information to the next level,” said Simon Pearce, vice president and general manager of desktop virtualization, Quest Software. “The combination of vWorkspace and QwickACCESS gives health care professionals the simplest, quickest, and most secure way to access patient information. Workflow can be centrally managed to reduce costs and security concerns while increasing control of the clinical desktop environment.”

Quest vWorkspace is a seventh generation virtual desktop management suite that enables organizations to provision, deploy and manage virtual desktop environments. Designed to reduce costs and complexity, while increasing security, vWorkspace is flexible across VDI, Remote Desktop Services/Terminal Server, and physical blade personal computers, and is hypervisor platform agnostic.

QwickACCESS provides fast, direct access to each user’s vWorkspace virtual desktop with the workflow advantages of HealthCast’s unique proximity badge functionality. QwickACCESS securely automates the login to a user’s vWorkspace virtual desktop session with a “tap” of a proximity badge. When the badge is “tapped” again, the virtual desktop is securely disconnected, and the user can go to any other computer, “tap” his badge, and reconnect to his desktop and applications to continue his session. A second user can “tap-over” the first user’s active session and launch his own virtual desktop. A configurable “password-save” refreshes at each badge tap, minimizing the need to re-enter passwords.

“Analysts are calling QwickACCESS a game changer because of the time it saves on every user login, which really adds up,” said Joan Mehn, CEO of HealthCast Inc. “QwickACCESS to vWorkspace continues HealthCast’s tradition of innovation to streamline clinician workflow, strengthen data security, and decrease infrastructure management costs.”

Quest and HealthCast will showcase a fully functional, interactive demonstration of the vWorkspace and QwickACCESS solutions at HIMSS11 booth 1483, Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Feb. 20 – 24.
