Caldera Medical Announces Executive Hire & Promotion

Privately Held Women’s Health Medical Device Maker Poised for Next Level of Growth

AGOURA HILLS, Calif.--()--Caldera Medical today announced the hiring of industry veteran Perry Needham as its Senior Vice President, Global Sales. Needham is no stranger to Caldera Medical, having served as its founding Vice President of Sales from 2003 to 2005. During this time, Needham successfully launched the company’s first product line, attracted leading physicians, and built an independent sales force in excess of 100 representatives.

Needham rejoins the company after a recent engagement with Novasys Medical, a venture-backed company commercializing a non-surgical procedure for the treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence. At Novasys, Needham served as Vice President of Sales, building a broad sales infrastructure and distribution channel that was instrumental in the company’s national rollout. During Needham’s tenure, Novasys’s Renessa® treatment was performed on over 2,500 women and the company successfully raised over $100MM in funding.

Needham has also held multiple sales and marketing roles with a series of minimally-invasive medical device companies, including Karl Storz Endoscopy and Gyrus Group plc. “I am delighted to be back at Caldera. The opportunity to address the unmet needs of incontinence and prolapse present a compelling case for continued development, and I am confident Caldera will play an important role,” said Needham. Needham holds a B.A. in Zoology from the University of Tennessee.

Caldera also announced the promotion of Dov Tamler to Chief Operating Officer. Since joining the company at its inception, Tamler has held a series of positions, serving most recently as Vice President Business Development and Operations since 2007. In his capacity as COO, Tamler will lead the finance, administration, and operational functions of Caldera, focusing on the continued development of the company’s highly scalable and profitable business model.

“Perry’s arrival and Dov’s promotion come at a particularly dynamic time for Caldera,” commented Bryon L. Merade, Chairman and CEO, adding, “The future growth expectations will require continued execution across all facets of our operating strategy and I am confident that both Perry and Dov are the right people to help Caldera achieve its objectives.”

In 2010, the company’s same product revenues grew 43%, well above industry and competitor growth rates. Caldera is continuing this growth cycle by expanding its domestic direct sales force from its current size of 51 employees to 115 sales employees by the end of 2011.

The company’s products include the Desara® Sling System for treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence and Ascend® Pelvic Floor Repair System with Apical Support for Pelvic Organ Prolapse. Both products utilize a suite of reusable instruments, offering surgeons procedural flexibility while reducing biohazardous waste significantly.
