Axcient Uses HP Converged Infrastructure to Deliver Mission-critical Data Protection for SMBs

Services provider chooses HP servers, storage and networking for maximum uptime, scalability

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--HP (NYSE:HPQ) today announced that Axcient Inc. has selected HP Converged Infrastructure to power its data protection platform for small and midsize business (SMB) customers.

As a rapidly growing provider of backup, business continuity and disaster recovery services, Axcient required a resilient infrastructure with the uptime capabilities customers need for complete data protection. Axcient delivers its data protection software as a service through managed service providers and value-added resellers.

“Axcient’s solution allows SMB-focused channel partners to tap into the $4 billion-plus data protection market, acquire new customers and solidify their presence in customers’ IT operations,” said Justin Moore, founder and chief executive officer, Axcient. “We found that HP’s Converged Infrastructure delivered the maximum uptime and minimal administration we needed for the rapidly growing IT services market.”

Axcient selected HP ProLiant DL and SL series servers along with HP Networking switches and HP StorageWorks shared storage to drive the robust, high-performance infrastructure required for its data protection solutions.

Axcient’s data protection platform features an on-premise appliance based on an HP ProLiant server. The appliance provides rapid backup and restore capabilities, as well as the ability to failover downed servers for business continuity. The appliance, combined with Axcient’s cloud-based disaster recovery service, provides a complete data protection solution. Further, the service is managed via the web, eliminating the expense and complexity associated with installing software on the customer’s devices.

“Customers constantly ask us how they can protect business data and stay up and running in the event of a disaster or hardware failure,” said Romi Randhawa, president and chief executive officer, HPM Networks, and president of the HP SMB Advisory Council. “The Axcient solution delivers the best in data protection with a pay-as-you-grow model that eliminates capital expenditures and reduces operating costs for resellers and customers.”

“The Axcient solution enables resellers to expand their cloud practices with new SMB market opportunities,” said Meaghan Kelly, vice president, Channel Strategy and SMB, Solution Partner Organization, HP. “With Axcient’s expertise and HP Converged Infrastructure, resellers can help SMB customers reduce the risk of costly downtime with enterprise-class data protection.”
