LUXEMBOURG--()--P&TLuxembourg’s TERALINK unit (http://teralink.biz/) announced today that it has appointed Micaël Weber to be Special Coordinator for the Luxembourg/Israel European Business Initiative. This initiative has been created in response to Luxembourg’s desire to establish greater economic relations with Israel. With the support of the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, HE Jeannot Krecké, a special global services package has been developed that offers many advantages for Israeli companies desiring to increase their business within the European market.

“Micaël Weber has worked diligently with government agencies and local companies in Luxembourg and Israel to develop this initiative,” said Marc Schambourg, Head of Corporate and Business Customers department of P&TLuxembourg. “Now, in his new role of Special Coordinator, he will help Israeli companies to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the global services package.”

Known as a leader in innovation, Luxembourg has a powerful ICT infrastructure and fast connections to Europe’s major PoPs. This makes it an ideal location for companies that focus on e-commerce and online business – domains that are particularly strong in Israel. With its strong banking and finance sector and business-friendly governance, Luxembourg offers start-ups and entrepreneurial companies a favorable platform to launch European business.

“We introduced this initiative to over 40 Israeli companies at a conference in Tel-Aviv on 12 January 2011,” said Mr. Weber. “The very positive response we received has encouraged us to move forward,” he continued. To build greater awareness of the initiative within the Israeli business community, Mr. Weber will work through local partners. For companies which have already expressed interest, he will collaborate with KPMG and the law firm of Lauer and Sartor to provide information about Luxembourg’s tax and legal structures. In addition, he will develop ICT solutions that fit their unique needs, provide office space and, where appropriate, connect Israeli companies to sources of capital.
