InfraReDx Appoints Donald Southard as President and Chief Executive Officer

Industry Leader Brings Significant Diagnostic Medical Device Commercialization Experience to Cardiovascular Imaging Company

BURLINGTON, Mass.--()--InfraReDx, Inc., a medical device company developing intelligent cardiovascular diagnostic imaging technologies, today announced that Donald Southard, an experienced medical device executive, has joined the company as president and chief executive officer. James E. Muller, M.D., co-founder of InfraReDx and previous chief executive officer, will continue to play an integral role at InfraReDx in his position as chief medical officer and in his new role as chairman of the company’s board of directors. Mr. Southard has also been elected to join the company’s board of directors.

Mr. Southard brings more than 30 years of sales, marketing and leadership experience to InfraReDx. Most recently, he was chief executive officer of Zonare Medical Systems, a company focused on developing and marketing premium performance ultrasound imaging systems. There, he led the company’s first product launch and successfully grew annual sales to $50 million. Mr. Southard’s previous positions also include president of Datascope Corp., a global manufacturing and distribution company for medical capital equipment and disposable products; president and chief executive officer of Serviscope Corp., a venture-backed supplier of cost-effective maintenance service and other cost-containment products to the medical imaging industry; and vice president of sales and marketing at Toshiba Medical Systems, Inc., where he oversaw U.S. medical operations. Earlier in his career, Mr. Southard held various sales, service and marketing positions of increasing responsibility at Philips Medical Systems, where he rose to vice president of sales. Mr. Southard holds a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Alabama and an executive M.B.A. from Babson College.
