CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Just two months after past Home Builder chapter President, Kevin Chaffin, formed a real estate fund to buy and lend on troubled real estate loans, it was announced that Chaffin was named "Builder of the Year" and awaits to head Illinois’ Home Builders Association as president, in 2014.
According to Chaffin, last year’s president of the SouthWest Suburban Home Builders Association, which is among the largest and most successful chapters in the country, “being a leader of the (homebuilding) affiliation today is no longer about just building homes. More than ever, it’s about creating solutions for the members.”
Fueling the need for those solutions in today's real estate market, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) found in December that its monthly reading of builders’ sentiment was unchanged at 16. Although this is the highest rating since June, readings that fall below 50, in general, indicate negative sentiments about the market, and the index hasn't been above that point since April, 2006.
NAHB leaders anticipated fewer sales in December than most years, primarily because of competition from sharply discounted foreclosed homes and tighter lending standards.
According to Frank Diliberto, President of national real estate and finance advisory firm Diliberto Real Estate Services, which was retained by Chaffin: “Unique lending alternatives, such as private capital, can be a core solution to keeping builders at their job sites, where they can make a difference; Chaffin’s plan is on target."
