DiagnosisOne Names Dr. Kenneth W. Kizer to Board of Directors

Internationally Recognized Healthcare Leader to Help Guide Clinical Decision Support and Analytics Innovator

LOWELL, Mass.--()--DiagnosisOne, the clinical decision support and analytics company, today announced the appointment of Kenneth W. Kizer, MD, MPH, to its board of directors. In this role, Dr. Kizer will provide strategic guidance on the growth, development and future direction of DiagnosisOne as it continues to bring innovative healthcare technologies to market.

Dr. Kizer is internationally acclaimed for his efforts to improve healthcare quality and patient safety and for organizational transformation. His professional experience includes leadership positions in both the public and private sectors, and his accomplishments have been recognized with dozens of awards. He served as president, CEO and chairman of Medsphere Systems Corporation, the nation’s leading commercial provider of open source healthcare information technology, and he was founding president and CEO of the National Quality Forum, a Washington, D.C.-based quality improvement and consensus standards setting organization.

Dr. Kizer also served as Under Secretary for Health in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and chief executive officer of the nation’s largest healthcare system from 1994-1999. In this role, he is widely credited with engineering the largest and most successful healthcare "turnaround" in U.S. history, including the largest and most rapid implementation of an electronic health record anywhere to date. He pioneered several other IT innovations during his VA tenure, including bar code medication administration.

Dr. Kizer’s previous positions also include being the Director of the former California Department of Health Services; professor and chairman of the Department of Community and International Health and professor of emergency medicine at the University of California, Davis; and director of the Emergency Medical Services Authority for the State of California. He also has served on the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force and as chairman of the board of The California Wellness Foundation, the nation’s largest philanthropy devoted to health promotion and disease prevention, as well as the governing boards of two managed care companies, several other foundations and various professional associations.

He is a fellow or distinguished fellow of 11 professional societies and one of very few persons ever elected to both the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Public Administration.
