NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On the heels of the announcement of a new designation structure for Languedoc AOC wines, the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins du Languedoc (CIVL) unveils the dates and locations for its 3rd annual trade and media tasting in the United States, the CIVL Ambassadors Tour. The CIVL Ambassadors Tour is the only tour of its kind to focus specifically on the AOC wines of Languedoc. The events offer members of the wine trade and press an opportunity to taste a broad selection of wines from across the region’s AOC designations and interact directly with the wine producers and representatives of the CIVL to ask questions and gather more information about this new AOC structure.
The 2011 tour will visit three cities in April:
- Washington DC – Tuesday, April 5, The Whittemore House
- Chicago – Wednesday, April 6, Bistro Campagne
- San Francisco – Thursday, April 7, Hotel Monaco
The CIVL Ambassadors 31 wines representing 14 appellations, were selected by an independent panel of experts in a blind tasting. Panelists Claire DeFoe, manager of Sherry Lehmann, Lora Zarubin, wine writer for the Los Angeles Times, and Robert Whitley, founder and editor of Wine Review Online, selected these wines from 120 wines submitted based on their quality and the typicity of the designation tier and AOC they represent.
“Consumers should start asking for these wines,” said Lora Zarubin. “I think you’re getting a tremendous amount of value for the quality.”
