Essential Learning Partners with Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and University Community Health Services Community Partnership to Develop
E-Learning Solutions for Community Health Organizations

SAN DIEGO--()--Essential Learning, the leading provider of e-learning services to the health and human service industry, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN) and the University Community Health Services Community Partnership (UCHS) in Tennessee to develop a comprehensive set of online courses for staff in primary care settings and community health organizations.

“Vanderbilt School of Nursing and UCHS are highly respected institutions that are nationally recognized for their clinical excellence. Additionally, they operate their own Community Health Center which gives them keen insight into the training needs of staff,” said Sue Erskine, CEO of Essential Learning. “As health care reform moves forward, community health care organizations are a major component in the system being created. We will continue to assist these organizations through the provision of the highest quality staff training in a cost effective e-learning delivery system.”

The courses will focus on the latest trends and needs of staff providing services to medically underserved communities and vulnerable populations. Topics will range from highly technical information for advanced practice nurses to best practice courses for clinical staff in the community health setting. A strong focus of many of the courses will be training clinicians on effective patient education including prevention, wellness and chronic disease management.

The courses will expand Essential Learning’s Community Health Library and be available to organizations and individuals. Organizations who subscribe to Essential Learning’s community health training services will have access to these courses free and the courses will also be available for organizations that have their own learning Management System platform.

“Quality clinical training is crucial fuel in the engine that allows community health clinics to meet the ever-growing needs of patients,” said Bonnie Pilon, D.S.N., R.N., senior associate dean for Clinical and Community Partnerships at VUSN. “Courses, such as these, play an important role.”

Essential Learning has a specialized online course library for Community Health Organizations and Rural Health Clinics. In addition to clinical training, courses assist community health organizations to comply with standards of the Joint Commission and the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care. In addition, the library offers workforce development courses and continuing education for medical, behavioral health, and dental staff.
