The HBMA Board of Directors is responsible for governing, supervising and controlling the affairs of the association, in addition to establishing the association’s policies and programs. Members will work in cooperation with the chief elected officer, the executive committee, other board members and the association’s national office staff. In 2010, Jackie Willett worked with other members of the HBMA Board to identify the proposed slate of 2011 candidates.

“HBMA was founded on the core tenets of education, advocacy and cooperation for healthcare billers, and I’m honored and humbled to serve as president of an association with such a strong mission,” said Willett. “In 2010, the association enjoyed tremendous growth under Scott Everson’s dedicated leadership. As we transition to the new year, I will work with the executive committee to continue to position our association as the leading authority in all areas touched by healthcare billing.”

As president, Willett will ensure that the association continues to adapt to the evolving needs of its members through a four pronged-approach:

1. Drive CMS and other regulatory mandates affecting medical billing;

2. Finalize development of the association’s regional structure/MAC relationship foundation;

3. Strengthen relationships with related industry organizations/affiliations; and

4. Create efficiencies within the association’s management technology structure.

Prior to her current role as senior vice president at Intermedix, Willett was the president and CEO of TERM Billing of Texas, which she founded in 1992. Willett grew the company from two to 136 full-time equivalents before selling the successful billing company to Intermedix in 2009. Willett is the longest tenured HBMA board member and has held positions on the board since 1993.
