“As we celebrate Drupal’s 10th anniversary and the launch of Drupal 7, global adoption of Drupal is exploding,” said DrupalCon Chicago co-chair George DeMet. “Companies and organizations of all sizes – within both public and private sectors – are realizing the power and business value of Drupal. As a result, everyone wants to be a Drupal expert – or hire one – which is why DrupalCon’s training and networking sessions are in high demand. Drupal is everywhere – creating extraordinary opportunities for people.”
DrupalCon sessions will focus on Drupal 7 design and user experience, coding and development, implementation and configuration, business and strategy, Drupal theming, and other topics important to the open source community. In addition, DrupalCon Chicago will feature content targeted at Web designers, developers, evaluators and site administrators.
Drupal popularity and adoption continues to grow rapidly. Drupal is used to build everything from personal blogs to enterprise applications. Notable implementations include whitehouse.gov, Examiner.com and the sites of numerous Sony Music Entertainment artists. Drupal 7 offers numerous improvements over Drupal 6, including enhanced security features, a redesigned administrative user interface, better multimedia handling, and better compatibility with different databases.
