NEW YORK--()--DIY Network’s Blog Cabin, the first-ever interactive home building television series, is once again inviting the world to participate in “citizen design” to help renovate a 1900s Chesapeake Bay waterfront home. DIY Network’s Blog Cabin asks viewers to log on to DIYNetwork.com/blogcabin to vote and blog on design elements of the ultimate vacation home. Viewer choices will be incorporated during construction of the home, which viewers can then enter to win on DIYNetwork.com. Online voting begins on Monday, Jan. 3 and continues throughout the spring. Viewers can enter for a chance to win the cabin online from Aug. 18 - Sept. 30.
Premiering in August 2011 for its fifth season, Blog Cabin is hosted by licensed contractor Matt Blashaw and features a team of DIY Network’s expert hosts transforming a 3-bedroom, 2-bath early 1900s home into a modern-day retreat. The 2011 Blog Cabin is located on the Chesapeake Bay in eastern Virginia, just a short drive from Colonial Williamsburg and Washington, D.C. It sits on over 16 acres of outdoor-living paradise and is surrounded by great sailing, shopping and relaxing in one of the most charming communities in the country.
Upcoming online voting topics for cabin design features include:
Monday, Jan. 3 – Sunday, Jan. 16: Kitchen
DIY Network viewers can choose various design elements such as the backsplash tile, kitchen layout, cabinet door, and countertop styles, which will be overhauled by Blog Cabin host and licensed contractor Matt Blashaw and carpenter James Young (I Hate My Kitchen).
Monday, Jan. 17 – Sunday, Jan. 30: Living Room/Great Room
Voting for the great room includes the fireplace, flooring, wall color, moldings and more. Matt Blashaw and licensed contractor Josh Temple (House Crashers) will incorporate the winning elements later this spring when construction of DIY Network’s Blog Cabin gets underway.
Monday, Jan. 31 – Sunday, Feb. 13: Master Suite
Master suite voting includes the bathroom layout, backsplash tile, tub, sinks and more. Matt Blashaw and project manager Matt Muenster (Bathroom Crashers) will upgrade the cabin with the winning features during construction in the spring.
Monday, Feb. 14 – Sunday, Feb. 27: Front Landscape
In the front landscape voting period, viewers can choose their favorite style for the home’s shutters, roofing color, mailbox and front door, among other options. Licensed contractor Jason Cameron (Desperate Landscapes) will join Matt Blashaw this summer to make over this desperate landscape with the winning elements.
Monday, Feb. 28 – Sunday, March 13: Backyard (Bay Side Yard)
Viewers can also choose from a variety of different options to adorn the bay side yard space, including the type of fire pit and other luxurious elements. Matt Blashaw and licensed landscape contractors Dean Marsico and Dereck Stearns (Indoors Out) will transform the backyard with these viewer choices this summer.
Monday, March 14 – Sunday, May 8: Cabin Comforts
Viewers will also have the opportunity to vote on non-construction related aspects of the cabin. Each week DIYNetwork.com will feature a poll for various design decisions for the project, including questions about kitchen and bathroom design details, finishing touches on the cabin, third floor features and outdoor living details.
