REGGIO-EMILIA, Italy--()--Bertazzoni, the distinguished fifth-generation family-owned Italian manufacturer of high-quality ranges, cooktops, ventilation hoods and accessories, today announced the results of its Consumer Holiday Survey. Sponsored by Bertazzoni and conducted by Zoomerang, the survey polled 210 U.S. consumers to better understand their attitudes toward cooking, family communications and the role of the kitchen in the family during the holidays.
“The survey results indicate that food is indeed a social binder and the foundation of healthy relationships with family and friends — especially during the holidays. For over five generations, Bertazzoni has championed the art of cooking as a vehicle by which to strengthen family bonds.”
According to the survey, 69 percent of the respondents believe that in-person interaction with family members during the holidays is extremely important for a happy and healthy relationship. The survey also revealed that 64 percent believe it’s very important to share holiday meals with friends and family and 45 percent believe that eating meals together typically brings out the best in family relationships during the holidays.
As dining room tables fill during the holidays, so does time in the kitchen. The majority of respondents (31 percent) plan to spend 2-3 hours each day in the kitchen, with most of this time being spent preparing meals (63 percent). In terms of improving the entertainment experience in the kitchen, nearly half of the respondents (47 percent) would like a larger kitchen, 33 percent would like more seating, 31 percent would like more counter space and 27 percent would like a big enough budget to remodel. Respondents listed the preparation of delicious food (59 percent) as most important when cooking at home during the holiday season.
At the same time, the survey results suggest that the majority of respondents plan to remain conservative when entertaining at home this holiday season. More than half (56 percent) of those surveyed plan to entertain the same amount as in 2008. Of the respondents surveyed, the majority (36 percent) intend to host 6-10 people total during the holidays.
“During the holiday hustle and bustle, families understand the gift of connection — with each other and through food,” said Paolo Bertazzoni, President and fifth-generation owner of Bertazzoni. “The survey results indicate that food is indeed a social binder and the foundation of healthy relationships with family and friends — especially during the holidays. For over five generations, Bertazzoni has championed the art of cooking as a vehicle by which to strengthen family bonds.”
