National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Selects Talend to Streamline Data Integration

Agency Relies on Talend Integration Suite to Drive Cost-Effective, High Performance Integration of Complex Environmental Data Across Multiple Database Systems

LOS ALTOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Talend, the recognized market leader in open source data management software, today announced that the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS), a program office under the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a federal agency focused on climate, weather, oceanography, ecosystems, disaster response and marine transportation, has selected Talend Integration Suite to drive down costs and improve the ease of integrating its metadata database systems. As a result, CO-OPS now has an ideal data management solution that is helping the development team in transitioning station information data from its operational metadata databases to a consolidated metadata database currently under development.

CO-OPS receives a high level of complex water level, water currents and meteorological data from its field stations via satellites and other acquisition methods, providing citizens, planners, emergency managers and other decision makers with reliable information. CO-OPS stores this information in two major databases. As part of re-engineering its information architecture, CO-OPS’ needed a data management solution to migrate information from the agency’s existing databases into a new database.

Talend Integration Suite is an open source enterprise data integration solution designed to support multi-user development and to scale to the highest levels of data volumes and process complexity. The Talend Integration Suite provided CO-OPS with a cost-effective, open source, tool with rich functionality for the integration of complex metadata in its existing databases into the new database.
