SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DataSoft Corporation, a software-defined radio (SDR) product and technology company, today announced the availability of the Typhoon™ SDR Development Platform. The Typhoon™ SDR is a full-duplex, wide-band transceiver supporting RF frequencies from 400 MHz to 4 GHz and signal bandwidths from 50 KHz to 20 MHz. This complete baseband-to-RF radio platform consists of the Monsoon™ RF System connected to a standard Texas Instruments OMAP 35x EVM board from Mistral. The Monsoon™ RF System provides RF transmit and receive circuits, data conversion (ADCs / DACs), and multiple FPGAs. The OMAP 35x EVM provides a dual-core OMAP device (an ARM Cortex-A8 and a C64x DSP) and external peripherals. The combination of these two assemblies forms a potent, software-configurable analog and digital signal processing chain.
“The Typhoon™ SDR allows waveform developers and communications engineers to work much closer to the real-time OMAP 35x processor for truly embedded wireless applications,” says Rod Kronschnabel, Hardware Team Director at DataSoft.
The Typhoon™ SDR was created to provide an affordable, reconfigurable, and reprogrammable RF test platform for waveform and algorithm developers working on the next generation of commercial waveforms including 4G (LTE, WiMAX), TV Whitespace, and emerging standards for Smart Grids and Home Networks. It is also ideal for Cognitive Radio (CR) applications.
The Typhoon™ SDR arrives with a pre-integrated, packaged Linux-based OS environment with GNU Radio and a board support package (BSP) for the Monsoon™ RF System. A Quick Start Guide, GNU Radio waveform examples, and full documentation are also included.
Pricing starts at US$10,000 for the complete system with deliveries starting in December 2010.
