Support the Washington Area Fuel Fund, Provide Warmth this Winter for a Family in Need

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Some of your neighbors will not be able to afford heat for their homes this winter. However, there is a way you can directly help these families in need – by donating to the Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF).

For more than 25 years, WAFF has assisted Washington area residents experiencing financial hardship. WAFF pays for all types of fuel to heat homes and helps stabilize families faced with unexpected crises by providing area residents with a critical safety net. The program assisted more than 7,500 area residents in 2010, disbursing over $850,000 to help pay for winter heating bills.

While WAFF has helped keep hundreds of thousands warm for more than a generation, the number of applicants continues to grow each winter. This is why it is more important than ever for your continuous support of the fund through generous donations.

WAFF is administered by The Salvation Army and is Washington Gas’ signature philanthropic program. Because Washington Gas pays the fund’s administrative fees, 100 percent of the money donated to WAFF goes to helping area families. Since 1983, WAFF has disbursed $20.3 million, which has helped more than 240,000 people.
