WILLOW GROVE, Pa.--()--The Fredric Rieders Family Renaissance Foundation, is pleased to announce that Barry K. Logan, PhD, one of the world’s foremost authorities on alcohol and drug impaired driving, joins the organization as its Executive Director. He is certified by the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT), and has over 80 publications in the peer-reviewed literature including treatises on the effects of methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, alcohol, hallucinogens and depressant drugs on drivers.
“Dr. Barry Logan will continue and greatly enhance the legacy of bringing underprivileged minority students and brilliant mentors together to achieve great success in science research and in fulfilling the Foundation’s mission of instilling a love of science and discovery in young men and women.”
Dr. Logan will also continues to be the Director of Forensic Services at NMS Labs where he leads a well-seasoned group of toxicologists who provide clients with forensic test results and expert opinions in accordance with the high standards of the ABFT and other accrediting bodies. Dr. Logan is Course Director of Forensic Toxicology at Arcadia University’s Nationally Accredited (FEPAC) Masters in Forensic Science Program. He also serves on the boards of the National Safety Council’s Committee on Alcohol and Other Drugs, the International Council on Alcohol, Drugs, and Traffic Safety (ICADTS) as well as the editorial boards of the Journal of Forensic Sciences and the Journal of Analytical Toxicology. He is currently an Officer and active member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and other professional groups including the Society of Forensic Toxicologists, and the International Association of Forensic Toxicologists.
Dr. Logan succeeds G. John DiGregorio, MD, PhD, who, with Fredric Rieders, PhD, created the Forensic Mentors Institute at the Foundation. Just a few years after the Foundation was established and started reaching out to under-represented minority privileged students, Dr. DiGregorio was appointed as its director. He maintained his position as a professor at Hahnemann University (now Drexel University) and as the Medical Director for NMS Labs. During his tenure at the Foundation, Dr. DiGregorio worked with the Foundation’s founder Dr. Rieders and later his son Michael F. Rieders, PhD, to establish a partnership with Arcadia University for a graduate program in forensic science. He also provided his expertise to the many educational outreach programs offered to high school students by the Foundation. Dr. DiGregorio remains the Medical Director for NMS Labs.
“For nearly a decade, Dr. DiGregorio has not only been the face and voice of the Foundation, but also the heart and soul. As a lifetime educator and mentor, he has been the Foundation’s greatest asset for leading our students,” comments Dr. Michael Rieders. “Dr. Barry Logan will continue and greatly enhance the legacy of bringing underprivileged minority students and brilliant mentors together to achieve great success in science research and in fulfilling the Foundation’s mission of instilling a love of science and discovery in young men and women.”
