NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that its Communication Systems-East (CS-East) division has been awarded a $92.4 million multi-year, firm fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract by the U.S. Army for its Battlefield Anti-Intrusion System (BAIS).
The BAIS is a compact, sensor-based early warning system that is used by small tactical units for force protection and situational awareness. The BAIS can be used either as a tactical stand-alone system or as a supplemental device for other security missions. To date, the U.S. Army has fielded approximately 1,800 out of a total requirement of approximately 8,200 BAIS systems.

The scope of this effort consists of fabrication, first article testing and delivery of production systems for the BAIS program. It also includes associated program management and logistics services, such as training, publications and other materials necessary to field and maintain the system.
