6th Annual “Bowling for Boobies” -- A Fine Pair Returns in Support of Local Women Living with Breast Cancer

Jane Wiedlin (of the Go-Go's) and Thomas Lennon (“Reno 911”) to Appear and Bowl on October 24 at Jillian's on Universal City Walk

LOS ANGELES--()--Busted Foundation announced today that international music star Jane Wiedlin and Thomas Lennon, comedic star of Comedy Central's “Reno 911,” will return for its upcoming annual “Bowling for Boobies” fundraising event. On Sunday, Oct. 24, at Jillian's on Universal City Walk, Wiedlin and Lennon will appear and bowl, helping raise money to support local women dealing with financial devastation as a result of breast cancer.

The nonprofit foundation also announced that both Houston and Philadelphia will host supporting events on Sunday, October 17. As part of the Houston event, a trip to Bowling for Boobies in Los Angeles will be awarded to the top two fundraisers.

Bowlers and supporters are encouraged to register a bowling team at www.bowlingforboobies.com to be eligible for prizes and awards, or attend the event and participate in “open bowling” for a $20 donation.

“This annual event is quickly becoming a highlight for October’s breast cancer awareness month. But for Busted Foundation, it is the connection and gratitude we’ve received from our financial recipients that makes it all worthwhile. Thanks to the enormous support of local people and communities, we’ve expanded our reach and fundraising,” said Stefanie LaHart, CEO of Busted Foundation.

Bowling for Boobies asks bowlers to organize teams of six people who raise a team goal of $6,000 minimum (or $1,000 minimum per person) for women who are fighting breast cancer. On October 24, 2010 (5:00 pm - 10:00 pm), all of the teams come together to submit their contributions and bowl at Jillian's on Universal City Walk. Teams and individuals are eligible for prizes in this high energy, incredibly colorful and outrageous social event. Raffle tickets and prizes will also be available.

The proceeds raised from this event help Busted Foundation provide monetary assistance to local women experiencing financial challenges as the result of fighting and living with breast cancer. Donations go directly to support these women who are overwhelmed with medical bills and their ongoing treatment.

Those not in the area who wish to contribute are encouraged to make a direct donation of any amount online via the Web site, www.bowlingforboobies.com, and receive event updates via Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/bowling4boobies. Bowling for Boobies in Philadelphia will be held on Sunday, October 17, from 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm at North Bowl Lounge & Lanes, and Bowling for Boobies in Houston will be held on Sunday, October 17, from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Lucky Strike Lanes.

All told, prior Bowling for Boobies events have raised almost $215,000 to benefit women fighting breast cancer.
