New Name Reflects Focus on Biomass Supply

RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Intrinergy Holdings LP, a leading manufacturer of processed biomass fuel in the United States and Europe, announced today that it has formally changed its name to Enviva LP, assuming the name of its highly successful wood pellet and biomass supply arm.

Intrinergy’s adoption of the Enviva name reflects a clear statement of the company’s goal to become the preferred partner and supplier of biomass to utility, industrial and retail customers. The company has been an active player in the biomass space since its founding in 2004, with experience ranging from sourcing technology for combined heat and power applications to building energy producing facilities. Enviva has operated under the Intrinergy brand since 2007, supplying Enviva wood chips, minichips, microchips, and Enviva pellets to utility, industrial and corporate clients.

The name change caps a landmark summer for Enviva. Last month, it signed a long-term wood pellet supply contract with Electrabel, a subsidiary of GDF SUEZ Group, one of the largest utilities in the world, to supply 480,000 metric tons of wood pellets annually to Electrabel’s power generating facilities in Belgium. In recent weeks Enviva also acquired Mississippi-based CKS Energy Inc., a privately held company that manufactures wood pellets for industrial, commercial and residential uses.
