Kiefer Consulting Joins the Powerhouse Science Center Campaign

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Discovery Museum Science & Space Center is pleased to announce that Kiefer Consulting, Inc. has joined the campaign to build the Powerhouse Science Center in Sacramento. As a Founding Partner, Kiefer Consulting has pledged significant current and future financial support to the project and will assign a senior executive to participate on the Powerhouse Steering Committee.

The 59-year old Discovery Museum Science & Space Center – known to generations of Sacramento children, teachers and residents from around the region – has outgrown its location and is being reborn as the new Powerhouse Science Center in the 1912 PG&E power station on Jibboom Street. The Powerhouse Science Center will be a prime attraction of the redeveloping River District for families, educators, visitors and employers alike.

The Powerhouse Science Center project’s 30,000-square-foot campus has a groundbreaking, platinum LEED design, will have a negligible public utility service footprint, and will be an exemplary “green” building, serving as an example of how Sacramento is changing the world’s view of energy conservation and sustainable alternatives. Low impact new construction, reuse of existing materials and public buildings, and sustainable green practices for water, energy and resource efficiencies will embody the tenant of “green” architecture.

Experiential, hands-on exhibits of the Center will encourage inquiry and make those connections to current and future career opportunities in science and technology. Visitors will gain new insights about the world around them and beyond while investigating a variety of key concepts, helping to accomplish the goal of creating a more science-literate community.
