Littler Mendelson Welcomes Stefan Jan Marculewicz to Its Washington, D.C. Office

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, announced today the addition of shareholder Stefan Jan Marculewicz to its Washington, D.C. office.

“Stefan is a welcome addition to our team”

Marculewicz is formerly a principal at Miles & Stockbridge, P.C. and represents management in all areas of labor and employment law. He is a recognized authority on international labor standards, and provides assistance and advice to multinational companies in handling matters relating to international labor standards and their application to global business operations. In addition to his international work, Marculewicz practices traditional labor law, and is a former Field Attorney with the National Labor Relations Board’s Baltimore and Fort Worth regional offices.

“I am especially delighted to welcome Stefan to the firm,” said Peter Susser, Chair of Littler’s International Employment and Labor Practice Group and a shareholder in the firm’s D.C. office. “In this increasingly global economy, the demand for attorneys with international labor and employment law expertise has never been greater. Stefan is a key player in this arena, and his knowledge and background adds strength to our growing practice.”

Marculewicz frequently advises multi-national corporations on issues related to the International Labor Organization, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United Nations Global Compact and other international labor standard-setting organizations. In 2009, he was designated the U.S. employer representative to the ILO’s High-Level Tripartite Meeting on Collective Bargaining. Prior to this, he served as the U.S. employer representative on the ILO Committee of Experts on the Measurement of Decent Work and served as a member of the U.S. employer delegation to the ILO 2006 Standards Setting conference. This 2006 effort followed closely on the heels of his role as head of the drafting committee that prepared the U.S. employers’ response to efforts by the ILO to establish uniform guidelines to define the employment relationship.

“Stefan is a welcome addition to our team,” said Nancy N. Delogu, office managing shareholder of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Aside from his work in traditional labor law and with the National Labor Relations Board, Delogu said, Marculewicz brings with him his unique international employment law experience. “He will surely be an asset to our clients, his colleagues, and the firm,” Delogu added.

Marculewicz’s clients include manufacturers and distributors in the food, metals, automotive, chemical, and health care industries. He also represents unionized employers in the retail, drug, and merchandise businesses, among others.

Marculewicz regularly serves as an expert and spokesperson on U.S. labor on behalf of the business community. In May 2008, he testified before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee in opposition to proposed amendments to expand the Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification Act, the federal law requiring 60 days advanced written notification of plant closings or mass layoffs. He remains active in the formulation of U.S. business policy on international labor standards through his work with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Council for International Business.

Since 2009, Marculewicz has been listed in the annual guide, The Best Lawyers in America. He also received a AV® Preeminent™ 5 out of 5 peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell®—a significant accomplishment and a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.

“I am proud to be joining a firm with Littler’s outstanding national reputation,” said Marculewicz. “Littler has a long tradition of excellence, and I look forward to working with our clients both throughout the region and nationally.”

Marculewicz received his J.D. from Catholic University of America and B.A. from Lawrence University of Wisconsin. He is admitted to practice in the Maryland state bar.
