Cupertino Electric Completes Solar System at New Sausalito Fire Station to Enable City-Wide Energy Efficiency

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cupertino Electric, Inc.’s (CEI) Energy Alternatives Division today announced that has completed the design and installation of a 23 kilowatt (kW) solar photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof of a new building in downtown Sausalito housing the city’s fire department. Over its lifetime, the solar system is expected to produce 680,127 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, an amount equal to the annual greenhouse gas emissions from nearly 100 passenger vehicles.

About the Solar System

The 23 kW PV system was engineered by Cupertino Electric and is installed on the rooftop of one of the City’s two new emergency services buildings. The fire station with the PV system is located at 333 Johnson Street in Sausalito. The PV system was funded by the City of Sausalito and Cupertino Electric was awarded the contract after a public works bid process determined the contractor to be the lowest responsible bidder.
