TicketCity Reveals Top 25 Hottest Games to Kickoff the 2010 College Football Season

With Less Than One Week before Kickoff, Demand for the Hottest Games is High

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With the countdown to college football season well underway, much anticipation is surrounding the first weekend of games. Recent conference changes and the crop of new talent making their debut ensure that the 2010 football season will have some unpredictable, yet exciting surprises. TicketCity highlights some teams not to be missed and counts down the most popular games of the season based on ticket sales, prices, customer inquiries, and searches on TicketCity.com.

“I just love the buzz around our office these days, because we’re just as excited for the season to get underway.”

TicketCity CEO Randy Cohen describes the excitement around the kickoff weekend: “College football fans are some of the most passionate sports fans around and this weekend kicks off arguably the most exciting time of the year. We can hear it in their voices when we’re talking to them and our entire staff is working our hardest to ensure great experiences for fans at the games, wherever they might be headed,” say Cohen. “I just love the buzz around our office these days, because we’re just as excited for the season to get underway.”

The beginning of the season presents some great matchups but there is a lot of buzz about Miami at Ohio State on September 11th, which could very well end up being one of the best games of the year. These teams have not met since the 2003 BCS Championship game and both have possible Heisman-hopeful quarterbacks. This game is in high demand with the average price on the secondary market at $427. TicketCity currently offers tickets starting at $215.

Number one ranked Alabama in pre-season polls will definitely be looking to come out strong and defend their national championship title. The recently expanded Bryant-Denny stadium pushes capacity to 101,000 and should be worth the new experience. Two great Alabama games not to be missed in September include the September 11th Penn State at Alabama game and the September 25th Alabama at Arkansas game.

There are also many games being played on neutral territory drawing a traveling crowd in September including the Chick-fil-A Classic on September 4th in Atlanta with LSU vs. North Carolina. This is a big game to attend with both teams hoping to kick-off the season with a big non-conference win. Atlanta is great neutral ground for fans to attend the first matchup of the season and ESPN Game Day will hold its first broadcast at this game. Lower-level tickets are still available at Ticketcity.com for as low as $28 while supplies last.

Another key neutral territory game is TCU vs. Oregon State at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington on September 4th. With TCU arguably fighting for a solid chance at a BCS championship, this first game for TCU will set the tone for their season. Tickets are still available starting at $55 a ticket. More great neutral territory games are ahead in October and November.

Each week, TicketCity counts down the most popular games of the season, as evidenced by ticket sales, prices, customer inquiries, and search on TicketCity.com. TicketCity will continue to update the hottest games list each Monday. View the comprehensive Top 25 list by visiting the TicketCity.com web site and searching for Top 25.
