HELENA, Mont.--()--Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock announces the state has launched its first mobile application -- a practice drivers’ exam, now available for the iPhone, iPad, and iTouch. The free application can be downloaded at Apple’s iTunes store or online at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mt-gov-driver-test/id380495079?mt=8.
“This is a great example of how we’re using technology to make our roads safer.”
The new application uses the advanced capabilities of touch-screen technology to prepare for Montana's drivers’ exam while on the go. Licensed drivers can also use the app to refresh their knowledge of the rules of the road.
“Most new drivers are tech-savvy young people, and that’s exactly who we had in mind when we developed this mobile application,” said Attorney General Bullock. “This is a great example of how we’re using technology to make our roads safer.”
Although the iPhone is not yet available from Montana's largest cell phone provider, the application works with the iPad and iTouch – devices popular with teens. The iPhone will likely be carried by Montana's largest cell phone providers in the future.
The drivers’ practice test application is the latest in a series of enhanced online services connecting Montanans with their Department of Justice. Also popular are the online mapping service for the sexual or violent offender registry, and Motor Vehicle Division’s new online appointment scheduling and vehicle registration renewal services, Bullock said.
The application was developed and is supported by the Department of Justice, the Department of Administration, and Montana Interactive, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of eGovernment provider NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV).
