America’s 911 Foundation Makes Official Statement on Location of Mosque Near Ground Zero

Nonprofit organization continues its support and advocacy for Active First Responders and their families through opposition of the proposed location of the Mosque near Ground Zero

WASHINGTON--()--America’s 911 Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support and advocacy of Active First Responders and their families makes an official statement today regarding their opinion and stance on the Mosque proposed to be built near Ground Zero.

America’s 911 Foundation was founded in October of 2001, by Ted and Lisa Sjurseth in response to the attacks that had taken place the previous month. The Foundation’s goal is to provide support and assistance for the families of those who protect and serve the larger public by answering the 911 call. Every year, the Foundation leads philanthropic initiatives including the annual ride to pursue and promote continued support for its mission. To date, the Foundation has raised over $500,000 for scholarships, new equipment and donations.

America’s 911 Foundation would like to clarify that their annual America’s 911 Ride was planned prior to the news regarding the Mosque as well as prior to the announcement of organized protests against the Mosque and its location. America’s 911 Foundation’s Never Forget Ride is in it’s 10th year and serves as a memorial ride which brings hundreds of motorcyclists and First Responders supporters together from all over the United States and Canada.

“We are not involved in any protest and are not supporting any political affiliation or stance,” said the Founder of America’s 911 Foundation, Ted Sjurseth. “Our primary mission is to honor the memory and sacrifices made by the innocent victims of 9/11 and their families, especially the First Responders. The Foundation considers the proposed location of the Mosque near Ground Zero to be extremely inappropriate, as apparent by the anguish and pain it has already caused to the 9/11 victims families and a majority of American Citizen.”

The Foundation’s annual ride takes place this weekend, with the Ride scheduled to arrive in New York City in the evening of Saturday, August 21st. The Ride culminates in the visit to Ground Zero scheduled for the morning of Sunday, August 22nd.
