Vice Admiral William D. Sullivan Appointed as Vice President of Maritime Programs

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that it has appointed retired Vice Admiral William D. Sullivan as vice president of maritime programs. He will report to Richard Cody, L-3’s vice president of Washington Operations, and will be based in Washington, D.C. Vice Admiral Sullivan succeeds Dennis A. Jones, who is retiring after 12 years with L-3.

“We are delighted to welcome Bill to L-3’s management team”

“We are delighted to welcome Bill to L-3’s management team,” said Richard Cody. “His background as a senior naval commander and extensive operational experience will be invaluable as we advance our maritime strategy in the United States and abroad.”

Cody added, “We also wish to thank Dennis Jones for his dedicated service to L-3 and for his many contributions to the growth of our maritime business.”

Vice Admiral Sullivan joined L-3 in May following his retirement from the U.S. Navy after 37 years of commissioned service. Prior to his retirement from active duty in February 2010, he served as the U.S. Representative to the NATO Military Committee at NATO Headquarters in Belgium. From 1999 to 2001 he served as Commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Korea, and he has also held a variety of staff positions, including two Joint Staff appointments.

During his naval career, Vice Admiral Sullivan served in many sea-going assignments including cruiser, destroyer and frigate class surface ships and carrier strike group staffs. He commanded the guided missile destroyer USS SAMPSON and the Aegis guided missile cruiser USS COWPENS.

A graduate of Florida State University, Vice Admiral Sullivan earned a master’s degree in National Security Studies at Georgetown University and a master’s degree in National Security Affairs at the U.S. National War College.
