BURBANK, Calif.--()--The California Shopping Cart Retrieval Corporation (CSCRC) Board of Directors has appointed Dave Reid as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
“Dave’s dedication to CSCRC coupled with his hands-on understanding of the company’s operation made him the logical choice and a perfect fit for this very important position”
Reid had been acting interim President and CEO since December 2009 and had served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since 2001.
“Dave’s dedication to CSCRC coupled with his hands-on understanding of the company’s operation made him the logical choice and a perfect fit for this very important position,” said California Grocers Association Chairman of the Board George Frahm, Stater Bros. Markets. “The Board unanimously supports Dave’s appointment and is confident he will successfully grow and efficiently lead this corporation.”
Prior to joining CSCRC Reid was a Vice President of Facilities and Construction for Grubb and Ellis Company and La Cagnina and Associates. He also was President/CEO of Seacoast Financial, Inc., a real estate finance company.
In addition to his business interests, Reid has served on the Santa Barbara County Arts Council, the Torrance/South Bay YMCA Board of Directors and the Pine Mountain Club Property Owners Association.
In other Board action, Kathleen Smith, Safeway Inc., was unanimously elected CSCRC Board of Directors Vice Chair. Rick Domanski, Director, Client Services, Pitney Bowes Business Insight, serves as CSCRC Board Chair.
Kathleen is Vice President of Loss Prevention for Safeway Inc., and is responsible for security and loss prevention for more than 1,700 stores in the United States and Canada, 31 manufacturing facilities, 20 warehouse facilities and buying offices worldwide.
“Kathleen was a natural fit for this position,” said CGA President Ron Fong, who also serves as CSCRC Secretary. “Her knowledge and expertise of the grocery industry, particularly in the area of loss prevention, is a huge plus for CSCRC.”
Formed in 1993, CSCRC was created in response to the need for large grocery store chains to gain control over their shopping cart retrieval. It began operating in Southern California with 200 area stores. Today, it has grown to more than 3,600 stores statewide and in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area.
