John Bertko Joins LMI as Part of New Center for Health Reform

Center Will Provide Healthcare Reform Direction to State and Federal Leaders

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LMI has established the Center for Health Reform, with leadership by noted actuary and health insurance reform expert John Bertko, in an effort to better serve state and federal leaders on the issues surrounding the implementation and measurement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The Center will assemble leaders in the field of healthcare reform, with the goal of addressing the challenging problems facing federal and state governments as they implement and assess the impact of the sweeping changes brought about by Congress in 2010 to our nation’s healthcare system.

One of the Center’s leaders will be noted healthcare actuary Bertko.

Bertko comes to LMI regarded as one of the practical thinkers of healthcare reform and implementation. Bertko is former Vice President and Chief Actuary for Humana, Inc., and has served in several public policy and risk adjustment advisory roles, including serving a 6-year term on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), being a member of the Panel of Advisors of the CBO, the American Academy of Actuaries task forces, and Society of Actuaries’ committees.
