BOLT Mobile Browser Users to Get 70,000+ Free Apps Via GetJar

Bitstream Adds GetJar’s Branded App Store Link to BOLT’s “Favorites” in Revenue Share Agreement

SAN MATEO, Calif. & MARLBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GetJar, (www.getjar.com), the world’s second largest app store, today announced that it has partnered with Bitstream Inc. (NASDAQ:BITS), developers of the acclaimed BOLT™ mobile browser, to offer users of BOLT immediate access to GetJar’s entire library of 70,000+ free mobile applications. Subscribers gain immediate access to GetJar’s massive library of applications via a GetJar branded apps store link on the favorites page.

“With millions of users from every corner of the globe able to use BOLT to download applications, this agreement represents an important new channel for distributing GetJar’s applications”

“Fundamentally BOLT is about getting the most utility possible from your mobile phone, a mission we share with GetJar,” said Anna Magliocco-Chagnon, CEO of Bitstream. “This agreement also brings an important new revenue opportunity for BOLT as any revenue generated through the download of sponsored premium applications is split between the two companies. We partnered with GetJar because are they are the most experienced, ‘open’ application catalog working across multiple platforms such as Java ME, BlackBerry OS, Symbian – any device and platform used by our customers.”

Through this agreement BOLT’s users will have easy access to a growing catalog on tens of thousands of mobile applications ranging from games, social networking, sports, entertainment and productivity applications. GetJar charges developers for premium placement in their catalog. When those applications are downloaded via BOLT, GetJar and Bitstream will split the revenue. Popular apps such as Facebook® Mobile, Yahoo!, Shazam, and CNN can be easily downloaded directly via the BOLT browser. BOLT also supports multiple simultaneous downloads, allowing its users to really expand the functionality and fun they get from their mobile phone.

“With millions of users from every corner of the globe able to use BOLT to download applications, this agreement represents an important new channel for distributing GetJar’s applications,” said Bill Scott, vice president of sales and business development at GetJar. “It’s exciting to see Web browsing technology meeting the overwhelming demand for apps. App Catalogue Express is designed to make it quick and easy for our partners to seamlessly launch a pre-populated app store across all major devices and platforms such as Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, among others.”

Bitstream joins other leading companies already using GetJar’s flexible, open app store approach including Sprint, Rogers, LG Corp., 3UK, The Carphone Warehouse and Virgin Mobile France. GetJar offers both branded and white label solutions.

The BOLT mobile browser, one of GetJar’s Top 10 overall application downloads, works on any Java ME equipped mobile phone, which represents approximately 75 percent of the estimated to be 4.6 billion handsets in use worldwide, including BlackBerry and many Windows Mobile smartphones. People can download BOLT directly from GetJar at http://www.getjar.com/mobile/25910/bitstream-bolt/.
