Univision 23 Miami will host the first gubernatorial primary debate in Florida for the 2010 election cycle. This is also the first ever Spanish-language debate for Republican candidates for governor in the state. Attorney General Bill McCollum and candidate Rick Scott will address issues affecting the residents of Florida, including the rapidly growing Hispanic population. Hispanics represent 13 percent of the Florida electorate. Moreover, the state’s registered Latino voters have doubled in the past eight years. | |

As part of Univision’s “Destino 2010” election coverage, the gubernatorial debate in Florida will focus on issues important to the Hispanic community. Topics will include immigration, education, economy, health care and oil drilling, as well as other issues of importance to our viewers. The debate will be moderated by Univision’s “Noticias 23” (News 23) news anchor Mario Andrés Moreno and will include three panelists: Manny Garcia, executive editor/director, El Nuevo Herald; Bernadette Pardo, journalist and on-air talent of WQBA 1140 AM, Univision Radio; and Sandra Peebles, anchor and political reporter, Univision 23 Miami. Univision stations cover 92.6 percent of all Hispanic voters in the state of Florida.
