PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Axway, the Business Interaction Networks company, has enhanced its Validation Authority Suite to further smooth the process of validating employee credentials in sensitive environments, including civilian government agencies. Grounded in the Server-based Certificate Validation Protocol (SCVP), the offering introduces the capability to both authenticate and authorize end-users or applications, in the context of protecting access to sensitive information, based on predefined rules.
The U.S. government mandates that Federal employees and contractors with access to Federal facilities and information systems have authorizing credentials. In particular, Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) requires a unified security process governing access to all Federal facilities and information systems. This is the impetus behind the roll out of Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards to all Federal employees and contractors.
To meet this need, Axway’s Validation Authority Suite is a standards-based solution that allows agencies to validate PIV credentials, regardless of where they are issued. This is critical to ensuring the applicability of PIV-based authentication/authorization credentials across multiple agencies, including those who host their own internal Public Key Infrastructures (PKIs).
“Strictly controlling access to sensitive data and facilities is in everyone’s best interest. Our intent with this updated offering is to make it even easier for government agencies to help promote the usage of smart cards for mission-critical physical and logical access applications, by making it possible to validate them across disparate agencies,” said Dr. Taher Elgamal, chief security officer for Axway. “With our experience in implementing digital certificate validation solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense and other government and financial institutions, we believe we are offering a solution that is unique in this market.”
Axway Validation Authority Suite protects mission-critical infrastructures by ensuring that revoked or invalid credentials cannot be used for secure email, smart card login, network access or other sensitive electronic transactions. In addition to support for different deployment models, the Validation Authority suite provides robust performance and cost-effective scalability across a wide range of operational environments, including hardware-software appliances and solutions for distributed, hosted or bandwidth-constrained environments.
Axway Validation Authority Suite consists of several products that provide certificate validation for both standard and custom desktop and server applications.
