Semiconductor Veteran Has Driven Industry Adoption of Innovative CMOS Solutions in High Performance and High Reliability Electronics Markets for 18 Years

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Discera, Inc., the acknowledged leader in CMOS MEMS technology, today announced it has appointed Sheung Li as Vice President of Marketing.  Mr. Li has led the development and marketing of CMOS semiconductor solutions at companies ranging from 3Com to Atheros Communications to SiBEAM for the past 18 years, and has been recognized by the IEEE for his role in the creation of 802.11.

Discera builds micro-electrical mechanical systems (MEMS) that use standard silicon processes to provide the heartbeat necessary for nearly all computer, consumer electronics and mobile devices.  The company’s products deliver a smaller, more reliable, and lower power replacement for traditional quartz crystal and oscillator technology.

“Sheung has an extraordinary track record in bringing innovative technologies using industry standard digital CMOS processes to market.  His experience in introducing the world’s first Wi-Fi, Gigabit Wireless, and Home Networking semiconductors that use this widely available bulk manufacturing method will prove invaluable as we release new generations of MEMS products,” said Discera CEO Bruce W. Diamond.

Sheung Li’s unique background in industry, government, and international affairs also include the opening of the 5.9 GHz vehicular and public safety communications band in the United States, 60 GHz consumer electronics spectrum across the European Union, and the commercialization of China’s WAPI standard.

Mr. Li holds patents in low power and adaptive radio technologies.  He received a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and both a M.S. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and an MBA from Stanford University.
