SALT LAKE CITY--()--The skies over war torn Europe and North Africa just became safer today thanks to Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang. Utah-based Smart Bomb Interactive (www.smartbombinteractive.com) today released Snoopy Flying Ace, the new online aerial dogfighting game on Xbox Live Arcade.
“We specialize in creating games for kids, but our hope with this game is that gamers of all ages will come to recognize Snoopy and the other Peanuts characters in a new context”
Snoopy Flying Ace puts players in the cockpit as one of the Peanuts characters or their own Xbox avatar to engage with as many as 16 other players in a World War I battle that will determine the fate of the war.
“We specialize in creating games for kids, but our hope with this game is that gamers of all ages will come to recognize Snoopy and the other Peanuts characters in a new context,” said Clark Stacey, Vice President of Business Development. “As the 60th Anniversary of Peanuts approaches, these characters continue to be household names. We truly believe that this game, with its unique art style will reach even newer generations of people and that Snoopy and Woodstock in particular will be seen as one of the premier comedy and action hero duos.”
In Nov. 2006 Smart Bomb Interactive became the first company to create 3D computer generated Peanuts characters following the death of creator Charles M. Schulz on Feb. 2, 2000. The company now holds an exclusive license to bring the characters to the current generation of game systems, including the Xbox 360, Wii, and Playstation 3.
“Smart Bomb Interactive has done a wonderful job in bringing the Peanuts characters to life in 3D—I know my father would be proud of the work they’ve done,” said Craig Schulz, son of Charles Schulz. “We believe this will be an epic game and that children of all ages will fall in love with Snoopy and want to join him, Woodstock, Charlie Brown, Lucy and Linus van Pelt, Peppermint Patty and the rest of the Peanuts gang in dog fights in Europe and future adventures.”
Snoopy Flying Ace is available immediately for 800 Microsoft points on the Xbox site. For a preview of the game visit http://www.snoopyflyingace.com.
