NextGate Solution Protects Significant Investment in Monk Code via Java Conversion

ARCADIA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NextGate, a leader in IT systems integration, today launched Monk2J, a software conversion program to simplify the migration of Monk integration components to Java™ code.

Monk is a specialized programming language originally developed by Software Technologies Corporation (STC), later known as SeeBeyond, and acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2005. Powerful and flexible, it drives the Sun SeeBeyond eGate™ Integrator and is widely deployed in health care, finance and retail industries as a platform for complex enterprise application integration. NextGate developed Monk2J to help this large community of Monk users protect and enhance their Monk investment in the face of uncertainty over future support for the environment.

Monk2J converts Monk code into Java code, enabling clients to reuse translation logic and message definitions in Java technology based integration platforms including the current version of Oracle’s Java Composite Application Platform Suite (JavaCAPS) and Fusion Middleware. This approach effectively extends the life of the investment in Monk and enables users to migrate to a modern integration environment with enhanced support options.

Monk2J was developed by NextGate in cooperation with Monk users through a community-based “GotMonk?” initiative, echoing back to the early days of customer collaboration that drove the growth of Monk. NextGate has a wealth of Monk expertise since it is comprised of a group of IT industry veterans who were formerly with STC, SeeBeyond, and Sun Microsystems.
