SALT LAKE CITY--()--The University of Utah today announced Jeff D. Davis has joined the David Eccles School of Business as professor-lecturer and director of branding and business communication. Davis recently retired as a vice president and global operations manager for Procter & Gamble (P&G) and has worked in five countries. He grew up in the Beehive State and earned a B.S. in marketing and a B.A. in German at the University of Utah.
“Going forward, we will take advantage of innovative new methods of delivery, transform curriculum and convey that we are the best business school today to prepare students who will lead the global economy tomorrow.”
“For me, this is a chance to join a dynamic team with a bold vision that is taking business education to the next level,” said Davis. “Everyone here understands that higher education competes in an international marketplace and that the rules of the game are changing. I love to teach and the David Eccles School of Business has clearly demonstrated the desire to understand the educational needs of the global business community by inviting Fortune 20 experience into their faculty.”
Davis signs on at a time when the Eccles School of Business—the regional leader in executive education—is building a 5-story, 3-pavilion facility that will become its new primary residence. Two of its hands-on programs, the University Venture Fund and the Pierre Lassonde Entrepreneur Center, have gained national recognition for immersing students in the hothouse world of entrepreneurship by collaborating with venture capital experts.
“Jeff brings priceless real-world, global executive experience that will help us define, develop and project our core strengths,” said Taylor Randall, dean of the Eccles School of Business. “Going forward, we will take advantage of innovative new methods of delivery, transform curriculum and convey that we are the best business school today to prepare students who will lead the global economy tomorrow.”
Davis is working with faculty and others on extensive research that will present a clear view of future stakeholder and marketplace needs. As an expert at branding, he will help layout a five-year strategic plan that clearly communicates the educational advantages of the Eccles School of Business and its standing as one of the top business schools in the U.S.
Prior to his last position as vice president and general manager of global operations for P&G’s Frankfurt, Germany-based Salon Professional business, Davis was director of global new business development and alliance management for P&G pharmaceuticals. He spent 23 years with P&G, a preeminent brand-building organization one of the largest and most respected companies in the world.
