HARRISBURG, Pa.--()--The Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund (PEBTF) in collaboration with Bridges to Excellence (BTE) announced today a physician performance financial reward and recognition pilot program.
“By reducing preventable complications incurred by most patients with these chronic conditions, we could significantly improve the health of the PEBTF members and lower costs.”
The pilot program includes physician practices across the commonwealth of Pennsylvania who will be recognized for adopting better systems of care, and for their excellence in managing patients with chronic conditions.
The PEBTF’s commitment to improving the quality, accessibility and affordability of health care for its members was the impetus for partnering with BTE to pilot this very important financial reward and recognition program.
“We are pleased to partner with BTE in a program which will reward physicians who provide quality, evidence-based care to our members,” said Kate Farley, executive director of PEBTF. “Research has shown that improving quality leads to better health outcomes and lower costs.”
“Our work has shown that there are significant avoidable costs associated with the management of conditions such as asthma and congestive heart failure,” said Francois de Brantes, BTE CEO. “By reducing preventable complications incurred by most patients with these chronic conditions, we could significantly improve the health of the PEBTF members and lower costs.”
The Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund (PEBTF), established in 1988, is the single largest employer group purchaser of insurance in Pennsylvania. The PEBTF administers health care benefits to approximately 190,000 active employees and their dependents. The PEBTF is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of both Commonwealth and Union representatives.
Bridges to Excellence (BTE) is a non-profit coalition-based organization created to encourage significant leaps in the quality of care by recognizing and rewarding health care providers who demonstrate that they deliver safe, timely, effective, and patient-centered care. BTE works with large employers, health plans, providers and a wide range of organizations that have a shared goal of improving quality and patient outcomes.
