PORTLAND, Ore.--()--Acumentra Health announced the installation of a new slate of officers for its Board of Trustees. Acumentra Health is the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Oregon and the External Quality Review Organization for the Oregon and Washington Medicaid programs.
Shelley Barnes is the new board chair. A consultant with Oregon Health & Science University’s Child Development and Rehabilitation Center, she works with families who have children with autism. Ms. Barnes served as a nursing home administrator for Extendicare Health Services from 2000 to 2004, and for Marquis Companies of Portland from 1996 to 2000. With St. Vincent Hospital and Medical Center during 1991–1994, she directed clinical operations and client services for the hospital-based laboratory and for three satellite clinic labs. She serves on the board of Albertina Kerr Centers.
Joy Conklin is the new vice chair (chair elect). As director of socioeconomic affairs for the Oregon Medical Association, she focuses on physician practice education and physician workforce and payer advocacy issues. She participates on the Oregon Healthcare Workforce Institute Advisory Council, the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee, Regence BlueCross BlueShield’s Physician Advisory Committee, the American Medical Association’s Private Sector Advocacy Committee, and many work groups.
Andris Antoniskis, MD, the incoming secretary/treasurer, is assistant medical director of Providence Portland Medical Center’s Chemical Dependency Program. Board-certified in internal medicine, he was in private practice from 1978 to 2007. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and a past president of the Oregon Medical Association.
In addition, Barbara Christensen has begun serving a full term on the board following an interim appointment. Ms. Christensen is chief sales and marketing officer for Providence Health Plans and has more than 30 years’ experience in the health insurance industry, including with Kaiser Permanente.

Acumentra Health is a nonprofit consulting company dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of health care. The company contracts with Medicare to support effective, evidence-based care for Medicare beneficiaries in Oregon, and oversees the state’s Medicare Beneficiary Protection Program.
