MIAMI--()--Wonderfund, a global outreach program to save the lives of children without other options, is being launched today by The International Kids Fund (IKF), a program of the Jackson Memorial Foundation, whose mission is to provide life-saving medical care to children in need. The cornerstone of the new campaign includes a new, social media-enhanced Web site and global appeal to international foundations, donors and non-governmental organizations from around the world whose mission is aligned with IKF’s Wonderfund.
“As a founding member of IKF’s Wonderfund, we try to expand the reach of our efforts each year by aiming to save the lives of more kids than in the previous year”
"Every day, children throughout the world suffer from serious medical conditions because of a lack of access to health care or because recent medical advances aren’t available in their country," said Rolando Rodriguez, president and CEO of the Jackson Memorial Foundation. “IKF’s Wonderfund is committed to doing all we can to help children everywhere, regardless of their country of origin or place of residence. We want to help them live normal lives without having to worry if they will survive another day.”
IKF’s Wonderfund campaign is reaching out to key influencers involved in global philanthropic efforts throughout the world. In partnership with FedEx Express, IKF’s Wonderfund has sent “Be Wonderful” packages to 100 top philanthropists such as Bill Gates of the Melissa and Bill Gates Foundation, Bill Clinton of the Clinton Foundation, H.E. Mr. Oumar Daou, executive board president of UNICEF and Robert B. Zoellick, president of The World Bank Group, among others. Each package will include information about IKF’s Wonderfund and the many lives that have been saved as a result of their work, along with creative promotional branding products.
In addition, IKF’s Wonderfund website, www.wonderfund.org, goes live today. It will provide visitors with many ways to get involved and help save children’s lives.
“As a founding member of IKF’s Wonderfund, we try to expand the reach of our efforts each year by aiming to save the lives of more kids than in the previous year,” said Jorge Ortega, IKF’s Wonderfund chairman. “We hope to continue doing so by enlisting the support of philanthropists from around the world through the launch of this global capital campaign.”
History of IKF’s Wonderfund
IKF’s Wonderfund was formed in 2001 by the Jackson Memorial Foundation who realized that hundreds of parents from Latin America, the Caribbean and other countries were arriving in South Florida seeking life-saving medical treatments for their children since care was not available in their countries. The group originally created The International Kids Fund and began raising money locally for the kids in need.
“In the beginning, IKF’s Wonderfund started by helping a few kids a year, but as parents began to learn how we could help their children we began to serve so many more,” said Janelle Prieto, IKF’s Wonderfund director. “Today we help more than 100 children a year and are dedicated our mission of providing world-class medical care for children in need.”
IKF’s Wonderfund is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, which is solely donor-based and able to fulfill its mission through the generosity of individuals, corporations and non-governmental organizations. To make a donation, or for more information about the program, please visit www.wonderfund.org.
