World Economic Forum Selects Metabolix as a 2010 Technology Pioneer

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Metabolix, Inc. (NASDAQ: MBLX), a bioscience company focused on developing sustainable solutions for the plastics, chemicals and energy industries, announced today that it has been named to the 2010 Class of Technology Pioneers by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

To be selected as a Technology Pioneer by the WEF, a company must be involved in the development of a life-changing technology innovation and have the potential for long-term impact on business and society. In addition, it must demonstrate visionary leadership and show all the signs of a long-standing and sustainable market leader, and its technology must be proven.

The Technology Pioneers program is the WEF's means of identifying and integrating those companies around the world that are involved in the design and development of new technologies. The Forum’s objective is to identify and address future-oriented issues on the global agenda and to further the Forum’s commitment to improving the state of the world.

As part of this recognition, Metabolix President and CEO Richard P. Eno will join the wider World Economic Forum community of business leaders, political leaders, Non-Government Organizations, scientists and academics during the WEF Annual Meeting 2010 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, in January.
