Kyocera Announces Previews of ‘ALL Access’ Rock Documentary, Featuring Public Enemy, Weezer, Blink-182 & More

– Independent Film Channel (IFC) to Air Documentary Vignettes Beginning Nov. 9, Followed by Special Sneak Preview of Full Film at Virgin Mobile Event with Public Enemy on Nov. 18 –

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading up to the world premier of its “ALL Access” documentary, Kyocera Communications Inc. is working with Virgin Mobile USA and the Independent Film Channel (IFC) to give music fans a sneak peek at the revealing film about one of America’s leading music festivals. The documentary, which was created entirely by a team of 14 aspiring filmmakers between 16 and 22 years old, gives a behind-the-scenes look at the 2009 Virgin Mobile FreeFest. Carefully balancing the raw energy of the music with the event’s underlying theme of helping homeless youth, the film features concert footage and interviews with Weezer, Franz Ferdinand, the founders of Public Enemy, Taking Back Sunday and Blink-182 frontman Tom DeLonge.

“The 14 filmmakers who created ‘ALL Access’ were chosen from thousands of applicants because of their passion and artistic vision, both of which shine through in this documentary”

From Nov. 10 through Dec. 14, IFC will showcase the documentary for its 7 million viewers in a series of six weekly vignettes airing every Tuesday night. The vignettes also will be available for viewing at www.billboard.com and www.heavy.com. Additionally, Kyocera will pre-screen the full “ALL Access” documentary for the first time at a Nov. 18 concert benefiting homeless youth, hosted by Virgin Mobile USA and Public Enemy. November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month and proceeds from the event, taking place in Washington, D.C. at George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium, will benefit Sasha Bruce House, a non-profit shelter for homeless youth in Washington, D.C.

“The 14 filmmakers who created ‘ALL Access’ were chosen from thousands of applicants because of their passion and artistic vision, both of which shine through in this documentary,” said Tom Maguire, head of global marketing at Kyocera Communications Inc. “We’re grateful that IFC is supporting these young artists by bringing their work to millions of people, and proud that the film’s first full-length screening will be to benefit homeless youth.”

Kyocera ALL Access

Kyocera was the premier sponsor of Virgin Mobile FreeFest, which took place August 30 and featured 17 bands on multiple stages at Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion. Building on the “FreeFest” theme of giving back, Kyocera created “ALL Access” to empower 16- to 22-year-olds with a love for music and the desire to express a passion for music and film. The winners, flown in from hometowns across the country, were split into four mini-crews, each joined by a professional producer and director. They recorded every pulse-pounding moment – from center stage to back stage, from the tour bus to the mosh pit. Along with back-stage access, the winners benefited from the enthusiastic cooperation of the bands and artists at the event.

“It is important to support opportunities like Kyocera's ALL Access that empower young people,” said Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav. "The youth of the nation are talented and bring unique voices and unique perspectives. This project will help America recognize that."
